The LED strip is only one part of an outdoor lighting system. Protect every component, seal all modified areas and understand the limits of IP65 before installation.
Protect All Power Components
The IP65 rating applies to the LED strip housing. Adapters, plugs, controllers, receivers and connectors are not waterproof unless separately rated. Keep them inside a suitable outdoor-rated weatherproof enclosure, raised above the ground and away from rain or standing water. Use a GFCI-protected outlet for outdoor power.
Reseal Cut Ends and Install Securely
Cutting the strip breaks its original waterproof seal. Protect every cut end and connection with compatible end caps and the sealing method recommended for the product. Test the strip first, disconnect the power before cutting or installing, fully unroll it before use, and secure it outdoors with mounting clips and screws.
Understand the Limits of IP65
IP65 means the strip housing is dust-tight and protected against water jets, making it resistant to rain and everyday splashes when correctly installed. It is not designed for immersion. Do not install the strip underwater, in pools, ponds or fountains, or anywhere it may remain in standing water.
